The Aquatic and Terrestrial Organic Matter Research Group at CUHK works on the biogeochemistry of organic matter (organic carbon, specifically) across both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. Our research spans from the formation of carbon pools at watershed sources, to their transformation in conveyance and distribution systems, treatment utilities, and their ultimate impact on end users.

The ATOM research group aim to understand the molecular dynamics of dissolved organic matter in complex and heterogeneous environments through field experiments and advanced analytical techniques. Our goal is to develop solutions for sustainable water resources that benefit communities globally.

Join us in exploring the interaction between water, carbon pools, and the challenges of our modern world.

Together, we can make a meaningful impact and pave the way for a more sustainable future.
