Getting to Know the Waters in Hong Kong
Starting this summer, our ATOM team is collaborating with the Hong Kong Drainage Services Department to conduct regular sampling of wastewater effluents and sludges. As a major source of halogenated compounds in megacities, wastewater effluent has important implications for urban aquatic and coastal environments. Huge thanks to DSD, our colleagues, and our amazing UG interns for their great work in the field and the lab!

BG16 - Exploring the Interdisciplinary Nature of Biogeosciences in Cities: Towards Sustainable Urban Environments
Prof. Chow (CUHK), Prof. Wang (SUSTech), and Prof. Tsui (CUHK) co-organized a session at AOGS 2025 in Singapore. The session brought together researchers to discuss interdisciplinary approaches to understanding urban biogeochemical processes and environmental sustainability.

This year’s meeting focused on the field of chemistry, bringing together 33 Nobel Laureates and more than 600 young scientists from around the world, including nine researchers from Hong Kong, for a week of engaging discussions and inspiring exchanges.
